ZEN HALL of The Upper-Cloister in Golden Mountain 禅堂 | RoboticPlus.AI 大界智造

Zen Hall, Part of The Upper-Cloister, is located in Golden Mountain, Hebei, China. The commission is building a cloister in a remote mountain surrounded by forest, which is inaccessible by vehicle. United AND Office and RoboticPlus.AI, Atelier Deshaus accomplish the very first and the largest pavilion with a full carbon-fiber structural roof. During the technical development process, we overcome a bundle of difficulties, such as structural material selection, detailing, manufacturing techniques, transportation, and member lifting. The application of the sandwich-like carbon fiber member for the roof is the technical high line of Zen Hall, in which we compress the structural layer, waterproof layer, and decorative layer into 35mm thickness. The three-in-one neo-carbon component impresses with its ultra-lightweight performance and paper-thin thickness. We use the industrial robot with 7-axis milling system for internal molding, by which we realize the fabrication for the hyperbolic and customized hexagon units. Incorporated with the wind power industry, we apply manufacturing techniques such as the molding process, sealing process, and vacuum infusion, which have been widely used in wind turbine blade production. The 230 units were prefab and preassemble in the factory into 1:1 scale and delivered in 10 modules for transportation. In this way, we swiftly lift and install the 177 ㎡ (developed area) roof in a day. The Lotus by the Xiangjiang River 湘江之花 | RoboticPlus.AI 大界智造

Located on the riverside in Changsha city, The Lotus is an observation deck with an elevator, integrated with multi-function such as sightseeing, exhibiting, and sales center. Design by Line+, the flower-like installation is composed of petals and a sightseeing hall, which could be lifted, introducing the river view to visitors, and guiding them from the lower level to the upper deck. Playing the role of technical development and building contractor, RoboticPlus bridges the data from the design process to the construction, smart factory production, and prefabricated methods, so that we could stick to the original design. RoBIM, the self-developed software by RoboticPlus, is deeply integrated into the project. In the early stage, through the model installation simulation of all steel structures and the pre-assembly process, we integrated the setup and requirements from construction into the data of components fabrication. Binding the consideration of the construction process into the data of the overall design and processing, so that we can avoid errors in the construction and improve the efficiency. In the construction and production stage, we use the RoBIM platform to integrate all model information and connect data between different equipment and machine. During the processing, we also used a 7-axis industrial robot arm to weld the components in the factory to improve accuracy and efficiency. Simultaneously, we completed the pre-assembly construction. Eventually, the deviation for the steel frame assembly remained within 3mm. Combined with transportation conditions, the structure frame was disassembled into several large components for loading, transportation, and installation. The Ring of Lishui City 丽水之环 | RoboticPlus.AI 大界智造

The Ring of Lishui City is located in the central square of the Yintai City plot in Lishui, Zhejiang. Unlike the traditional design process of "considering space, form, materials first, and then processing and production techniques," The Ring of Lishui City, from the outset of the conceptual design, integrates space, form, materials, structure, and construction points through digital technology to facilitate the realization of digital processing and intelligent construction. The sculpture encompasses the entire area from the sunken square to the space above the ground water pool, with a diameter of about 30 meters and a height of nearly 20 meters. In this urban-scale area, the design attempts to create a coordinated and dynamic feeling between the high and low levels. Firstly, through structural calculations, the steel truss structure, compared to other structural forms, is lighter, minimizing the weight of the sculpture. In addition, subsequent substructure designs can also save material consumption, highly optimizing the project's loss ratio. Secondly, the sculpture's overall symmetrical and smooth form limits the "usable space in the cross-section" extremely for the structural profession, achieving millimeter-level proximity between lines and skin. Therefore, the structural scheme requires highly precise optimization of load-bearing capacity and feasibility. During the design process, through structural analysis and simulation of members, the complex spatial structure of the sculpture ultimately obtained the optimal solution. The surface of the sculpture is made of two different metal materials: mirror-finished stainless steel and aluminum panels. The design uses mirror-finished stainless steel at the landing point, and as the form extends upward, gradually transitions the mirror-finished stainless steel to anodized aluminum panels. In the LOD400 BIM model, accurate processing parameters for the 140-grade circular dragon bones in the sculpture, as well as data information for the cutting and laser perforation of 2520 panels, can be obtained. This data-driven multi-device production quickly generates factory processing drawings, reduces the time for dismantling factory drawings, improves production efficiency, and ensures the accuracy of material processing. At the factory, through the Product Data Management (PDM) system, the DaJie Intelligent Manufacturing site retrieves BIM model data information, and double-checks and inspects the accuracy and quantity of processed components. If any issues are found, adjustments can be made promptly within the factory to ensure that the final factory products meet quality requirements.
