The Performative Winter Hive offers multiple experiences for the visitors and lifeguards using a tensile structure that provides shelter with inflated thermal bag while accommodating various functional possibilities that emerge over time. Here we highlight one possible outcome that is shaped by current needs and demands. By using tensile structure along the beach we minimize the possible damage to the sensitive ecological environment along the beach. The lightweight structure also enables maximum mobility along beach. The recycled inflated PTFE membrane with thermal coating inside can function as warm hub that offers warmth for visitors when they crawling through. The lifeguard is protected by the thermal bag on both sides as well as the canopy on top with undisrupted view of sea. The proposal converts the lifeguard stand into a playground by catalysing a performative hive along coastline. A new destination is formed, enhancing connection between beach and water and activating the edge.
